ARKANSAS, USA — The Influenza-Like-Illness (ILI) indicator has moved from low to moderate in Arkansas, according to the Arkansas Department of Health's (ADH) Weekly Viral Respiratory Diseases Report from Nov. 5 to Nov. 11.
In ADH's latest report from Nov. 12 to Nov. 18, Arkansas has maintained a moderate level of the ILI indicator.
In the latest report, Arkansas reported 7 out of 13 for Influenza-Like-Illness activity. In the previous week, the state reported 6 out of 13.
The weekly report evaluates Influenza, COVID-19, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) activity in the state. COVID-19 and flu cases are reported based on hospitalizations, deaths, and outbreaks.
"It is presumed that there are many more people actually affected than the report shows," ADH says.
Emergency hospital visits were at 3.58% for Influenza-Like-Illness, 2.83% for COVID-Like-Illness (CLI), and 1.31% for RSV, the Nov. 12 to Nov. 18 report shows.
For the 2023-2024 flu season, Arkansas reported 3 deaths, all of which were people 65 years old or older. The one outbreak to be reported this flu season was from a nursing home.
There were 9 people to be admitted to the hospital for flu-like symptoms last week, according to the Nov. 18 report.
Since Jan. 1, 2023, Arkansas reported 584 COVID-19-related deaths. The week of Nov. 12 to Nov. 18 had 51 deaths.
