FORT SMITH, Ark. — USALCO, a water treatment chemicals production company, has announced the construction of a new facility in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
The new facility will reportedly "supply local customers" while bringing new full-time jobs to the region.
“Through the production of high-efficiency, specialty coagulants, this new plant will reduce the number of shipments from surrounding states, resulting in lower carbon emissions and lower costs,” said Project Leader Scot Lang.
USALCO refers to itself as a leading provider of water treatment solutions for municipal and commercial customers in the United States, offering "bespoke formulated chemistries and leading product efficacy to address a diverse range of water treatment requirements."
The city is currently in the beginning phases of trying to replace the current 27 and 36-inch pipes that flow from the Lee Creek Reservoir and Lake Fort Smith, with 48-inch ones.
Both pipes, according to McAvoy, have lasted past their life span, and require replacement.
Headquartered in Baltimore, USALCO operates 32 facilities throughout the United States.
