Fort Smith police clears "suspicious" package call

5NEWS spoke with witnesses on the scene who said that a black box was "suspiciously placed" in a garden bed.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — The all-clear is given by the Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD) after responding to a suspicious package call that took place on Saturday, Dec. 9. 

The Fort Smith Fire Department and FSPD were called out to an area on Jenny Lind Road to investigate. The investigation caused traffic delays, according to officials. 

5NEWS spoke with witnesses on the scene who said that a black box was "suspiciously placed" in a garden bed.

No details were released about the incident but FSPD was able to confirm via social media that the call was "cleared as no threat."
