Police: AT&T service outage restored in Fort Smith

At 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, 5NEWS confirmed with FSPD that the services had been restored for the area.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — The Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD) said in a release on Tuesday, Aug. 27 that AT&T users may have difficulty reaching 911 amid an outage.

AT&T notified that a network service outage was affecting the ability to deliver wireless 911 calls in the Fort Smith area, according to release.

At around 9 p.m., FSPD said that AT&T was working to resolve the issue and that the cause of the outage was unknown.

"The Fort Smith Police Department urges all residents using AT&T Mobility to be aware of this situation and to take precautions accordingly. AT&T Mobility will provide updates on the status of the service outage, including when it has been fully resolved," the release said.

FSPD says that anyone needing to contact police should call 479-709-5100.
