Fort Smith woman killed, another injured in Greenwood crash

The woman reportedly failed to yield while crossing Highway 71 from Liberty Drive and collided with a vehicle traveling northbound.

GREENWOOD, Ark. — A 63-year-old Fort Smith woman has died after a crash in Greenwood on Dec. 16, according to the Greenwood Police Department (GPD). 

The woman reportedly failed to yield while crossing Highway 71 from Liberty Drive and collided with a vehicle traveling northbound. She was taken to a nearby hospital and later died, police said. 

"We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the victim during this tragic time," the department said.

Police did not reveal the woman's identity. 

The other driver was treated for injuries at the scene and released. 

GPD said a fatal crash report has been submitted to the Arkansas State Police.
