Gov. Sanders marks one week since deadly tornadoes with volunteer effort in Rogers

The stop is one of a few planned for June 2, a week after multiple tornadoes struck Arkansas.

ROGERS, Ark. — Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders is set to travel across northern Arkansas on June 2, marking a week since multiple deadly tornadoes tore through the region.

Throughout the day Sunday, Sanders will be visiting Boone, Baxter, and Benton counties, some of the hardest hit after the storms.

Sanders will spend time in 5COUNTRY volunteering to help storm victims, where at least seven tornadoes hit in the early morning hours of May 26, causing multiple deaths, leaving tens of thousands without power, and completely destroying homes and businesses.

Sanders previously visited the area earlier in the week, surveying damage and making appearances at press conferences.

A full list of the governor's plans for June 2 are below:

Sanders will begin her day visiting the Arkansas State Police Troop Headquarters in Harrison to survey damage.

  • When: 12 p.m.
  • Where: ASP Headquarters, Troop I, 5196 Highway 65 South, Harrison

Sanders will then visit residential areas in Briarcliff affected by the storms.

  • When: 2:30 p.m.
  • Where: 37 Scalpa Dr., Mountain Home

Still in Briarcliff, Sanders will then visit city hall to survey storm damage.

  • When: 3 p.m.
  • Where: 945 Scenic Dr., Mountain Home

Lastly, Sanders will finish out the day by participating in a volunteer effort with Samaritan's Purse in Rogers.

  • When: 5:15 p.m.
  • Where: Assembly of God Church 2626 W New Hope Rd, Rogers
