OKLAHOMA, USA — After the recent death of an Oklahoma man from a virus that spread through tick bites, the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture has said there is a higher number of ticks in Arkansas this Spring, according to affiliate station KTHV.
Among the species of ticks, lone star ticks and American dog ticks are the most prevalent, KTHV reported.
A man from Delaware, Okla. died on May 17 from the rare Heartland virus, which is thought to be spread by the lone star tick.
