ARDOT: Hwy 23 bridge set to go through updates over the next few years

Dave Parker with ARDOT says the $8 million project is slated to finish in August 2028, but he says visitors should not be worried about traffic delays.

ROGERS, Ark. — The Highway 23 bridge over War Eagle Creek in Madison County is in need of some reconstruction, according to Dave Parker with the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT).

Dave Parker said the updates were overdue. "The bridge is old, and the deck is in bad condition. They're moving it a little bit downstream because of flooding concerns that had happened previously in that area," said Parker.

Not only are they reconstructing and moving the bridge, but they are expanding it as well.

"The current bridge is 24 feet wide, the new one is going to be 40 feet wide," said Parker. "There's going to be a new parking area constructed on the northwest end of the bridge."

Parker said the $8 million project is slated to finish in June 2028, but visitors shouldn't be concerned about traffic delays.

"The traffic impact is going to be minimal. I don't want people to think there's gonna be a traffic delay or concern until 2028. That's not the case," Parker said.
