Horseshoe Bend campground reopens ahead of 4th of July

The campground was initially closed after the recent tornadoes left behind extensive debris.

ROGERS, Ark. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Beaver Lake Project Office, announced the reopening of the Horseshoe Bend Day Use area in Rogers.

The campground was initially closed after the recent tornadoes left behind extensive debris.

"We had to make sure that we had all that stuff cleaned up before we opened it back up to the public," Chief Park Ranger Landon Thurman said. "We've done a lot of this work here, but we have a lot of work ahead of us."

Here's a list of what is open or closed across Beaver Lake:

  • Horseshoe Bend
    • Day-use area, boat launch ramp, and swim beach are open. The campground for overnight stays is closed.
  • Prairie Creek
    • Campground and day-use area are closed. The boat launch ramp is open.
  • Dam Site Lake
    • Swim beach closed — still awaiting water quality test results;

"We have to have two consecutive good samples before we can open the Dam Site Lake swim beach back up, and we're hoping to get that second sample back this afternoon," Thurman said. "So if that's the case and it turns out this a good sample, then we'll be able to have that open for the fourth."

More information can be found by calling the Beaver Lake Project Office at 479-636-1210.
