Calipari buys $2.2M home in Arkansas

According to Washington County's personal property records, John Calipari bought a $2.2 million home in a gated community at Blessings Golf Club.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — After being named the Razorback men's basketball head coach in April, Coach John Calipari has officially bought a home in Arkansas.

According to Washington County's personal property records, Calipari bought a $2.2 million home in a gated community at Blessings Golf Club on June 10. The Clear Creek subdivision is just over five miles from the University of Arkansas. It is also home to the school's golf course.

County records say the 7,350-square-foot, five-bedroom home was built in 2005 but remodeled in 2023. Its most important feature is a view of the golf course's fairways.

Following Eric Musselman's departure and rumors that Calipari was finalizing a deal to become Arkansas's next coach, the University of Arkansas officially confirmed Calipari was the Razorback's next leader on April 10.

The day before the announcement, the U of A Board of Trustees approved an increase in the head coach's maximum salary. The university announced Calipari signed a five-year contract with a yearly payout totaling around $7 million per season. That contract runs through April 30, 2029, with a maximum of two automatic rollover years for NCAA Tournament appearances that would extend the contract to 2031.

According to the contract, Calipari's annual salary is $500,000. On top of that, he will get paid $6.5 million a year for "performance of speaking engagements, television and radio appearances, sponsorships, and all other obligations." The deal also includes a $1 million signing bonus and retention bonuses of $500,000 each year of the contract, the U of A said.

After his contract was finalized, Calipari listed his Lexington home for $3.9 million in May. According to Zillow, it has not been sold yet.
