FORT SMITH, Ark. — On June 17, construction began on Highway 64 in Fort Smith, as crews started working on reinforcing parts of the Arkansas River Bridge and the relief bridge, according to the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT).
ARDOT confirms construction is expected to continue for four months, with at least one lane open at all times controlled by barrels, barricades, and signs.
