Lightning and luck strike twice in Rogers as winners claim lottery prizes

If that wasn't enough, a third winner—this time from Pine Bluff—reportedly won $100,000 in the same week.

ROGERS, Ark. — Lightning struck twice in Rogers this week as two separate residents won big when playing the lottery, according to the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL).

Aaron Piedra won $150,000 after buying a ticket from the Murphy USA gas station on West Walnut Street near the Walmart Supercenter, and Laurie Miller won $75,000 from a ticket at the Jiffy Kwick on South Arkansas Street.

ASL confirms that Piedra had bought the ticket to celebrate his birthday and forgot about it until seeing an article announcing an unclaimed $150,000 ticket

After checking it and realizing he won, his family "freaked out the whole Sunday, screaming and jumping and dancing and everything," said Piedra.

Piedra said he plans to pay off his family's mortgage with the winnings. Similarly, Miller also told ASL that she plans to pay off debts with her prize.

If that wasn't enough, a third winner—this time from Pine Bluff—reportedly won $100,000 in the same week.
