SPRINGDALE, Ark. — Exciting developments are underway in downtown Springdale as the 14-acre Luther George Park undergoes a major transformation.
The park will serve as a gateway, connecting the Razorback Greenway with Emma Avenue along Spring Creek. Most importantly, there will be a new playground, amphitheater, and gathering space.
The amphitheater, which can hold up to 3,000 people, is designed for larger events such as performances. The other space will accommodate smaller gatherings like movie nights for 50 to 100 guests.
"This is a park that was donated by the community many years ago through the George family," Downtown Springdale Alliance Executive Director Jill Dabs said. "It was re-imagined by the community. It's been supported by the community through their dollars and imagination, and it's almost finished."
The Downtown Springdale Alliance and the City of Springdale broke ground on the expansion project in October 2022.
According to the city's website, the park's renovation is 85% complete. It is expected to be completed later this fall. The project has cost around $11 million.
