Springdale man dead after crashing a stolen car on Christmas Day

Wilmer Jubell, 20, stole a vehicle from a local business and was fleeing from a traffic stop going 100 mph eastbound on E. Emma Avenue in Springdale.

SPRINGDALE, Ark. — A Springdale man died after crashing a stolen car on Christmas Day at 1:37 a.m., according to a crash report

Wilmer Jubell, 20, stole a vehicle from a local business and was fleeing from a traffic stop going 100 mph eastbound on E. Emma Avenue in Springdale, according to the Springdale Police Department (SPD).

When he approached the corner of E. Emma Avenue and Butterfield Coach Road, the report said Jubell "failed to negotiate the curve."

Jubell drove off the road, struck a culvert on a private drive, and hit the tree line where he was then ejected through the windshield. 

Responders administered life-saving measures, but Jubell was pronounced dead on the scene. 

According to SPD, the investigation into the theft and accident is ongoing.
