CHEROKEE COUNTY, OKLAHOMA, Okla. — One man is dead after falling off of a cliff into Lake Tenkiller in Cherokee County on Sunday, Oct. 22, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).
OHP identified the victim as 58-year-old Troy Childress of Cookson.
Officials say Childress was driving a golf cart when it got stuck. The report states Childress got off the golf cart and "laid on the ground" as he and another person tried to get it unstuck.
When the person helping him moved the golf cart, officials say Childress stood up and "rolled from a 30-foot cliff" into the lake.
The report states he was pronounced dead by Cherokee EMS. The cause of the incident is still being investigated, and no further details were released.
