21-year-old dies after hit-and-run involving motorcycle in Fort Smith, police searching for suspect

FSPD says the truck could be a Ford Platinum or King Ranch four-door.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — According to the Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD), officials are searching for the driver of a four-door black truck after a 21-year-old man died in a hit-and-run crash on Thursday, Nov. 16.

The man who died has been identified as John Stephens of Fort Smith. According to the report, Stephens and a woman were on a motorcycle headed east on Rogers Avenue at around 11:43 p.m.

The report says Stephens "started to make a left turn" into a shopping center parking lot when the truck and motorcycle collided.

This caused Stephens and the woman to be "thrown" from the motorcycle. The truck, however, fled the scene, according to officials

The woman on the motorcycle was injured, but Stephens did not survive, according to the report.

FSPD says the truck could be a Ford Platinum or King Ranch four-door.

There are conflicting reports circulating and we are looking into them.

If you have any information that can help police in locating the driver of the truck, contact the FSPD at (479) 709-5100.
