City of Mansfield no longer under boil order, ADH reports

Repairs of the leak took nearly two weeks since ADH first reported the order on Jan. 19 after freezing temperatures caused a significant water line burst.

MANSFIELD, Arkansas — The boil water order has been lifted for Mansfield residents on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 31, according to Mayor Buddy Black.

Repairs of the leak took nearly two weeks since the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) first reported the order on Jan. 19 after freezing temperatures caused a significant water line burst.

The water line rupture impacted around 1,500 people in Mansfield and left many without water for nearly a week.

By Jan. 20, Black said the the city was experiencing an emergency water shortage.

On Jan. 23, 20 people showed up to the Elm Park rest area to express their frustrations with the ongoing problem.  Between the Jan. 19 and Jan. 23, around 400 homes still had zero access to water.

Black said about 90% of residents had their water back on Jan. 24, but the city was still under a boil order between then and Jan. 31.
