FORT SMITH, Ark. — According to a report, 48-year-old Roy Williams of Mountainburg died after a crash on Interstate 540 Tuesday evening near the Kelley Highway exit.
The report states the crash happened around 5:39 p.m. on Oct. 31 while Williams was driving northbound on I-540 in Fort Smith, near mile marker 5. The Arkansas State Trooper who investigated the crash said Williams was driving in the left lane and while shifting into the right line, hit a car already in the right lane.
After hitting the car occupying the right lane, Williams' truck "rotated clockwise and struck an unoccupied vehicle parked on the right shoulder," the report said.
The truck then hit the tree line after leaving the shoulder, where it came to a rest.
