SPRINGDALE, Ark. — Multiple fire departments worked to put out an apartment fire on Wednesday afternoon in Nob Hill.
According to a Facebook post from the Hwy 94 East Fire Department, firefighters responded at around 1:20 p.m. to a fire on Washington County Road 389, working to assist the Nob Hill Fire Department.
The Goshen Fire District also responded to the blaze, saying later in a Facebook post that no injuries were reported.
"Around 1:00 p.m., crews responded to assist the Nob Hill Fire Department with a structure fire. First arriving crews found heavy fire conditions. Crews from Nob Hill, Goshen, Hickory Creek, HWY94 East, Springdale, & CEMS were all on scene. Unfortunately, there were some pets that didn’t make it out. Otherwise, no injuries were reported," GFD said.
Kozmo Trovini, a neighbor who witnessed the fire, said that he could hear the flames from his home.
"The flames topped the trees at a few points, and I could hear the crackling of flames from my porch. While the neighbors and I were talking about an hour after it started, we heard part of the house collapse," Trovini said.
A resident of the apartment told 5NEWS that a dryer exploded causing the fire.
Trovini said that while he isn't sure what caused the fire, there was a loud boom right before it happened.
"Don’t have specifics, but there was a loud boom before the fire. I’ve been told 4-5 families live there," Trovini said.
Another neighbor said most of the first story is gone, and the bottom story is flooded, maybe leaving some without a place to stay tonight.
