Police arrest two people in Arkansas double homicide of mother, infant

The North Little Rock Police Department says two people have been arrested in an investigation where they found two bodies near an Interstate 440 on-ramp.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Update: Willie Mott Jr pleaded not guilty to his charges and a judge has set no bond for him. Diane Mott also pleaded not guilty to her charges and is out on a $25,000 bond.

The North Little Rock Police Department has arrested two people in connection with the murder of a woman and her child on Feb. 13.

According to police, 43-year-old Willie Mott Jr. and his mother, 70-year-old Diane Mott, were arrested on multiple charges for the double homicide of 27-year-old Teangela Tate and her two-month-old infant.

Additionally, police said a second child, an 18-month-old toddler, was also injured and remains in critical condition.

Willie Mott Jr. was charged with two counts of capital murder and one count of attempted capital murder, while Diane Mott was charged with hindering apprehension and tampering with evidence.

On Tuesday, North Little Rock police found Tate and her child dead near the Interstate 440 on-ramp of Highway 165.

Authorities launched an investigation, where they learned Tate was "shot and killed at a residence on Jeff Davis Road in Jacksonville."

Police also learned that Willie Mott Jr. and Tate were in a relationship and lived together at the residence near Jeff Davis Road. He was also the father of the two-month-old infant, whose cause of death is "not being released" at this time.

Willie Mott Jr. and Diane Mott are being held at the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility.
