NWACC pushes back fall classes after ransomware attack

According to a release, the new start date is Aug. 26, "with the expectation that health profession courses would start on Aug. 19."

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The Northwest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) announced fall start dates will be pushed back due to last week's potential ransomware attack.

According to a release, the new start date is Aug. 26, "with the expectation that health profession courses would start on Aug. 19."

A cyber threat was detected at NWACC on the morning of July 30, causing an international shutdown of the college's tech network. The NWACC cyber security team and the FBI were involved in addressing the issue.

A day later, NWACC announced that there was no indication that anyone's information had been accessed during the threat. The restoration process began Aug. 1.

During the Board of Trustees meeting on Aug. 5, the college decided to postpone its start date.

More information is expected to be posted on their website.
