Sheriff: Drowning reported at Natural Dam in Crawford County

The incident happened on May 19 at Natural Dam in Crawford County at around 5:39 p.m., according to the report.

NATURAL DAM, Ark. — According to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office (CCSO), a 12-year-old drowned earlier this month after suffering a seizure while swimming at Natural Dam.

The incident happened on May 19 at Natural Dam in Crawford County at around 5:39 p.m., according to the report. CCSO states that multiple 911 calls were made about the victim being underwater "for an unknown amount of time."

When officials with the CCSO arrived at the scene, the victim was already receiving CPR.

While some officials assisted with aid, others were talking to witnesses who told them the victim had possibly suffered a seizure and fell into the water.

EMS soon arrived and took the victim to the hospital but officials confirmed the victim did not survive.

(Editor's Note: 5NEWS originally reported based on CCSO's report that the mother of the drowning victim had gone to look for dogs before the drowning. However, after speaking with family, we've been advised this wasn't the case. We've reached out to Crawford County for clarification).
