The mystery of why dead birds fell from Arkansas skies on last year may now be solved. The National Geographic will air a special called “Omens of Apocalypse” Thursday night at 9 p.m.

Much of the film was shot in Beebe, Arkansas where the birds dropped from the sky on New Year’s Eve. The episode will also discuss the many fish found dead in Arkansas waters.

The “wide-ranging story begins with an investigation of the blackbirds death and ends by assessing how the human mind is inspired, or derailed, by seeming patterns or coincidences in nature,” according to the National Geographic website.
