Inmates Recaptured After Escaping LeFlore County Correctional Center

HODGEN, OKLA. (KFSM) – Two inmates escaped Monday night (Oct. 6) from a LeFlore County correctional center, prompting authorities to launch a manhunt.

Shortly after 10:00 p.m., Gregory Bonds was captured. He is now back in custody, according to an official with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.

John Sellers was recaptured early on Tuesday morning (Oct. 7) at 4:42 a.m. walking along U.S. 59 South.

Both inmates escaped around 8:30 p.m. from the Jim E. Hamilton Correctional Center in Hodgen, a correctional center official told 5NEWS.

Sellers is described as a black male who is six feet tall and weighs 250 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Bonds is a white male who is five-foot-eight and 141 pounds. He has black hair and hazel eyes, authorities said.

Sellers was convicted in February of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. He began serving his 15-year sentence in April.

Bonds was convicted in September 2013 of possession of methamphetamine, concealing stolen property and attempted burglary. He began serving his 13-year sentence in December, according to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections website.

The Hamilton Correctional Center houses about 680 inmates, according to the center’s website.
