Authorities have confirmed Adam Mayes was investigated in 2010 for sexual abuse. As we were first to report, Mayes shot and killed himself last night in Alpine, MS.
Mayes kidnapped and killed Jo Ann Bain and her 14-year-old daughter Adrienne then kidnapped 12-year-old Alexandria and 8-year-old Kyliyah.
Both girls are now safe.
In 2010, there was a report Mayes was babysitting a 7-year-old girl when he and the child were found naked, as he shaved her legs.
The report also said Mayes was in possession of child pornography.
Investigators searched the Mayes home, and had the USPS check mail sent to the Mayes home.
The investigation found no signs of child pornography received by mail.
Mayes said a family member made a false allegation out of spite.
Mayes’ wife Teresa is charged with two counts of first degree murder and four counts of Especially Aggravated Kidnapping.
His mother, Mary, is charged as an accomplice to the kidnappings.
