ROGERS (KFSM) -- Alan Jackson's concert at the Walmart AMP set for Saturday (Sept. 22) has been postponed, according to AMP officials.
"The Jackson family has been grieving the loss of Jackson’s son-in-law – husband of his oldest daughter – who died unexpectedly last week after suffering severe traumatic head injuries in a fall, a month shy of the couple’s first anniversary," according to a news release.
Samuel Benton "Ben" Selecman, the husband of Mattie Jackson Selecman, died unexpectedly Wednesday (Sep. 12) in West Palm Beach, Florida. Ben has recently suffered severe traumatic head injuries in a fall. He was 28 years old.
Ben was a Knoxville, Tennessee native and attended the University of Tennesee Knoxville. He earned his law degree at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and was employed as an Assistant D.A. by the Nashville-Davidson County District Attorney's Office.
Ben married wife Mattie, the oldest daughter of Alan Jackson and his wife Denise, last October.
The Jackson and Selecman families ask for, and appreciate, prayers during this difficult time, according to the music label Jackson is under.
"Management, promoters and the venue are working to reschedule the show, and more details will be released once they have been finalized. All tickets will be honored once a rescheduled date has been determined."
The County Music Hall of Fame inductee was slated to perform this weekend as part of his Honky Tonky Highway Tour.
