Arkansas River Tours Start This Weekend (List of Dates)

The Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center will be offering special trips out on the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Education Barge along the Arkansas River a few days in September, October and November.

Tours are available, free, to the public. Advance registration is required. Please call 479-452-3993 to register. Staff will be offering three types of tours: Boat Tour on the AR River, Lock & Dam Tour, and Evening on the River.

Boat Tour on the AR River – enjoy a daytime ride on the Arkansas River in the fall as we admire any fall foliage changes, look for any early migratory birds such as bald eagles, and other sights.

Lock & Dam Boat Tour on the AR River – take a tour on the Arkansas River at Lock and Dam 13 and learn about the navigation system and the lock and dam. Participants might get to lock through on the education barge depending on water traffic and lockage.

Evening on the AR River – Take an evening tour along the Arkansas River at dusk.
