Jacksonville police say a suspect boarded a school bus with children on board Thursday morning (Oct. 17) armed with a knife.
Several police agencies pursued the bus, and the chase ended in the Greystone Blvd. area of Cabot.
"We tend to think that can't happen here," said said Alma School Superintendent David Woolly. "That can't happen close to home and all of a sudden it does."
Wooly said all of his school buses are equipped with a cellphone and video surveillance system to prevent an unwanted visitor from coming on board.
"Bus drivers are the most highly trained drivers on the road," said Alma Bus Driver, Michael Gibson.
Gibson said he and his team undergo a safety course before they are allowed to drive.
The students on the bus are fine and no one was injured. According to police, one person is in custody.
