ROGERS (KFSM)- Benton County authorities released a 911 call on Friday (June 12) made after a Jet Ski collision on Beaver Lake that killed a 14-year-old girl Thursday evening (June 11).
The full 911 call is included below, but the content could be graphic to some listeners.
Two eyewitnesses told 5NEWS the 14-year-old was driving full-speed ahead in front of two other family members on another Jet Ski when she did a doughnut in the water. According to Alan Bland, a ranger with Army Corps of Engineers, the other driver, identified as the teen's aunt, was unable to stop in time, t-boning the 14-year-old and hitting her in the head with the Jet Ski. Bland said the other person on the Jet Ski with the aunt was the teen's eight-year-old cousin. Both sustained minor injuries.
According to Bland, the 14-year-old victim was taken by ambulance then by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Rogers where Arkansas Game & Fish Commission officers said she died.
Bland also said the three family members borrowed the Jet Skis from the teen's uncle and it's not clear if any of them had taken a boating safety course required by Arkansas law. Right now, authorities don't believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
The Arkansas Game & Fish Commission is inspecting both of the Jet Skis, Bland said.
The accident took place at 9654 Prairie Creek Marina Road just before 6 p.m. Thursday.
