Paul Hines is resigning as superintendent of the Benton County School of the Arts effective July 1, he told 5NEWS on Tuesday (Feb. 12).
Hines said he announced his resignation Monday at a school board meeting. Asked why he is stepping down, Hines said, “No comment.”
In the fall two teachers at the school were arrested in separate incidents. They are Pamela H. Nelson, accused of striking a student, and Tom Sindon, accused of public intoxication after allegedly threatening fans following a University of Arkansas football game.
Nelson, who has said she is innocent, has a Feb. 28 pretrial status hearing on a Class D felony second-degree battery charge, said Van Stone, Benton County prosecuting attorney.
Nelson was fired from the school, but Sindon remains on the faculty, Hines said.
