CENTERTON (KFSM) — The Centerton Police Chief has been placed on paid administrative leave while the police department undergoes an investigation and audit, according to Sgt. Shannon Jenkins with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
Brian Rabal, Centerton’s city attorney, said the city thought it was best to put chief Cody Harper on leave during the audit.
Meyer Gilbert, chief deputy at the sheriff’s office, said Friday (May 4) the investigation will determine whether there was criminal conduct, ethical violations or if the department violated internal policy.
Gilbert added that “nothing criminal” has been uncovered and the investigation is ongoing.
Rabal said the sheriff’s office mistakenly said the investigation was criminal earlier this week, but has since apologized.
