BENTONVILLE (KFSM) -- Bentonville School District will be adding a new elementary and middle school because of its exponential growth.

In fact, Bentonville is the fastest-growing school district in the area, according to the superintendent of Bentonville Schools, Mike Poore.

"All of Northwest Arkansas is growing. Bentonville School District is growing a little bit more quickly than the other districts, so to keep up with that, we need to put schools together," Poore said.

Poore said for every 10 children moving to Northwest Arkansas, 4 to 5 of them come to Bentonville.

"We need to expand we need to have additional schools," Poore said.

The addition of the 5th and 6th grade to this elementary school has some parents with multiple young children relieved. Many like the idea that they can now make one stop to pick up their children in different grades.

"We pick them up at three separate schools, so I think that'd be great to pick them all up at one building instead of going from here to there," said James Herreia, a grandparent.

He said it takes about one hour to pick up his three grandchildren from school. However, he thinks it's great that Bentonville is giving parents this convenient option as they're expanding.
