From his record to his thoughts on recruiting, Razorback fans have been learning more and more about new head football coach Bret Bielema. Wednesday afternoon fans got the chance to meet his wife, Jen, for the first time.
Bielema was officially introduced to the media and the public during a Wednesday afternoon news conference. Jen joined him at the podium in the Miller room on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville to 'Call the Hogs' for the first time.
Bielema, 42, married his 27-year-old bride from Florida on March 10 at a Catholic church after a four-year courtship, according to a report from WISC, a CBS affiliate in Madison, Wisc.
In the report, Jen said the couple met at Wynn Casino in Las Vegas.
“I was with my best friend and her boyfriend at the time,” she said. “He came up and we had small talk and conversation. ‘Where are you from? What brings you to Vegas?’ And when he said he was from Wisconsin that perked my interest.”
Jen’s family is from Oshkosh and spent a lot of time there growing up, she said.
“I was born and raised in Tampa, Florida so summertime, our getaway was in Oshkosh."
She told the reporter the two hit it off right away and never even discussed his career until about four months after they met.
“Everything is so genuine with him and he's such a sensitive emotional guy that a lot of people don't see,” she said of her new husband.
She said watching Bielema coach can be stressful at times and the couple is very superstitious.
Once an aspiring model, Jen graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2004 as a psychology major and has a work background in finance, according to reports.
