BUFFALO NATIONAL RIVER (KFSM) — The Buffalo National River is closed to the public following extreme flooding, according to a river press release on Monday (Dec. 28).
The public is urged to temporarily stay off of the river, as well as trails and roads in the area as they pose safety concerns, the release states.
Due to the flooding, the entire Tyler Bend campground was underwater Monday morning, according to the release.
According to the release, the Arkansas River has already risen about 15 feet and is in its floodplain.
The river is expected to crest in the Tyler Bend area around noon today, the release states. The predicted crest height is 47-50 feet.
The Buffalo National River Services and River Level Guide shows most of the river is at flood stage.
