BARLING (KFSM) -- Fire crews are battling a grass fire across from the Barling City Park, according to the Barling Fire Department.
It started just after 3 p.m. in eastern Sebastian County.
The exact location is the area between H Street at The City Park headed toward Fort Street, according to their Facebook post. The fire is under control, however smoke will remain in the area for a day or so, according to the Barling Fire Department.
Sebastian County and Fort Chaffee fire crews were on scene to contain the fire.
Fire fighters near the scene said several fire departments -- rural and city -- were called to help battle the blaze including the Fort Smith Fire Department that had a pumper truck and a brush truck on scene .
Barling and Fort Smith police also responded.
No word yet on what started the fire.
