Fire crews and emergency vehicles responded to a house fire and possible explosion in West Fork at about 11 a.m. on Thursday (Sept. 19).
A neighbor told 5NEWS he was in bed when he heard an explosion at the nearby residence sounding like a cannon going off. The neighbor said he then went outside and saw the house on fire.
No information was available early Thursday on whether there were any injuries.
Property records show the house at 89 Northwood St. belongs to Joyce Browder and has an assessed value of $13,046. There was no indication by midday Thursday whether Browder lives at the residence or was there at the time of the fire.
A Fayetteville dispatcher told 5NEWS the Fayetteville Fire Department was called in about 11 a.m. to assist with the fire. Fire crews from West Fork, Farmington and Prairie Grove also responded.
A plume of thick smoke could be seen in Fayetteville shortly after 11 a.m.
