The 52-foot section of the pipe was cut and placed on a flatbed truck for transport to an independent third-party laboratory for metallurgy testing Monday (April 15), according to a statement posted on the company’s website.
The company says cleanup from the March 29 oil spill is almost complete in the affected section between North Main Road and Interstate 40. Water and air quality testing continues in the area by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Arkansas Department of Health and ExxonMobil.
Water sampling confirms the main body of Lake Conway remains oil-free, according to the company.
The ADH has agreed to a re-entry plan for 10 homes in the evacuated Northwoods subdivision. Residents will be allowed to decide when to return.
The Arkansas Department of Health has indicated there should be no impact on the health of Northwoods neighborhood residents, according to ExxonMobil.
