Jason Day, 39, of Tulsa, Okla., was sentenced in Fort Smith to 135 months for each of seven counts of armed bank robbery, one count of bank robbery and one count of attempted bank robbery Tuesday.

The sentences will run concurrently, according to Conner Eldridge, United States Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas.

Day, dubbed the “Fake Beard Bandit” because of his disguises, robbed or attempted to rob nine banks in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas.

Day was arrested shortly after he robbed the Liberty Bank on Old Greenwood Road in Fort Smith on Aug. 23, 2011. Investigators used surveillance photos to connect him to several other robberies, including an attempted robbery of River Town Credit Union on S. 21st in Fort Smith a month before. He was also ordered to pay $70,500 in restitution and a $5,000 fine, Eldridge says.

Day was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Fort Smith before Chief U.S. District Judge P.K. Holmes, III.

He pleaded guilty to the robberies in Feb. 2012.
