Fayetteville police Wednesday arrested a 23-year-old man they say broke into several cars and houses in the area over the past several months.

Benjamin William Muntz was booked into the Washington County Detention Center early Thursday and is being held on a $12,000 bond, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office website. He faces numerous felony charges, including burglary, theft of property, breaking or entering and fraudulent use of a credit/debit card, according a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Muntz is listed on that report as being from Jackson, Ga. However, the sheriff’s office website lists him as being from Oakfield, N.Y.

When Muntz was arrested Wednesday, police discovered his wallet contained three ID’s and a Social Security card that didn’t belong to him, the report states.

He later told officers he has broken into numerous homes and cars locally, stealing flat-screen television sets, laptop computers, firearms and more, according to the report.
