The two people who died in an airplane crash just east of Springdale on Friday night have been identified as Searcy W. Harrell, 72, and Ruth Ann Hudson, 71, both of Camden.

Medical crews were called to the fatal plane crash at 5:46 p.m. near the intersection of Sonora Road and U.S. Highway 412, just east of Springdale, according to firefighters.

The two people who died in the crash were the pilot and a passenger. No one else was in the plane, and there were no other injuries, according to the Sheriff's Office.

A plane radioed in to air traffic control officials to say it was low on fuel, and it was the last time the aircraft made contact, a source told 5NEWS.

The plane was a King Air aircraft flying from Camden to Bentonville. It is owned by J&G Aviation in Camden, and is a turbo-prop built in 1981, records show.

Nob Hill fire units were also called to the scene, along with the Springdale Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Authorities found the crash site shortly after 6 p.m., the Nob Hill fire chief told 5NEWS.
