FORT SMITH (KFSM)- A former Sebastian County Sheriff died Monday (Dec. 8).
Frank Atkinson was with the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office for 40 years. He rose in rank from deputy to patrol supervisor to chief deputy before he was elected Sheriff in 1998. Atkins served six terms.
He recently underwent a battle with cancer. Atkinson was 68.
His funeral arrangements are pending.
