SPRINGDALE (KFSM) - A high school in Springdale is only a week away from the grand opening of their brand new football stadium.
Har-Ber High School has played their football home games at Springdale High since the school was opened.
“You don’t open schools very often, and you don’t open stadiums very open,” said Dr. Danny Brackett, Har-Ber High School Principal. “It is exciting for the community.”
Construction crews are on scene this week, completing the stadium in time for next week’s first true-home game in school history versus Conway.
“The newness of the stadium brings an excitement because every game that Har-Ber has played, had been a road game,” Brackett said.
The school plans to open the stadium next Friday (Sept. 19.)
They also plan to honor the original 45 staff members the school had when it opened, as the school is also celebrating its 10 year anniversary.
“[The anniversary] just so happens that it coincides with opening a new stadium,” Brackett said.
Parents of students say they are excited for the opening of the new stadium.
“Springdale has got their own style and tradition, and now Har-Ber has got their own,” said Steven Lott, a parent.
“I think it is great that they don’t have to go to Springdale High [for games],” said Latocha Kelson, a parent.
School administrators tell 5NEWS that the stadium was designed with plans to expand seating in the future.
Tickets to Friday’s (Sept. 19) game are $5 for adults, and $3 for students.
School alumni will sing the alma matter at the game.
