FORT SMITH (KFSM) — A yard sale event stretching more than halfway across the state is giving area bargain hunters three days to look for great deals.
Bargains Galore on 64 is a series of yard sales from Thursday (August 13) through Saturday along the U.S. Highway 64 corridor. It starts in Fort Smith and ends in Beebe, more than 160 miles away.
Suzie Jones said this is her fourth year as a vendor. She said her favorite part of the sale is meeting people from all over the country.
“It is amazing,” Jones said. “You will meet people from anywhere, all walks of life, and they are looking for anything. You would not believe some of the stuff people look for.”
Many people come to hunt for antiques and collectibles, but some searching for specific items. This is the 16th year for the sale, and Carrol Ison said she has been coming to shop for the last 10 years. She said she was hunting for a trunk to make into a coffee table, but she said even if she did not find it, Bargains Galore is the best sale she has been to.
“This is just a yearly event for my friends and I,” Ison said. “It is really been nice this year.”
