Arkansas head coach John L. Smith flew home to Idaho Falls on Thursday night to attend the funeral of his brother, Bart Smith, who passed away at the age of 53 at his home Monday.
According to his obituary, Bart Smith’s favorite pastime was following his brother’s college football teams wherever he was coaching.
John L. Smith has come under much scrutiny for his recent filing of bankruptcy, losing to Louisiana Monroe and Alabama in embarrassing fashion, and also for his remarks to the media on Monday when he sarcastically told them to smile. That was the same day his brother passed away.
Coach Smith will fly back to Fayetteville Friday evening to coach in Saturday night’s game against Rutgers.
