CRAWFORD COUNTY (KFSM) — A Crawford County judge ordered the Cedarville School District Thursday (Sept. 10) to release surveillance video of an accident at a playground near the elementary school where a seven-year-old boy was severely injured.
Zach Moore had to be flown to Arkansas Children’s Hospital after a bench fell on him at the playground on Aug. 18, according to an incident report from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
Zach’s parents told 5NEWS in prior interviews that their son sustained multiple skull fractures and swelling on the brain. They said they wanted to get the surveillance video from cameras surrounding the playground in order to show doctors what happened.
When the school district denied the Moores request stating it could not release the video because there were other children in it, they filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit. The judge sided with the Moores on Thursday.
Since the accident, “Keep Out” and “Danger” signs have been posted around the playground.
