Slain Bentonville Woman Remembered as ‘Good Samaritan’

An arrest warrant on charges of capital murder and kidnapping has been issued for a Bentonville man accused of killing his wife in their home Sunday.

Perry Dennis Davis, Jr., remains in critical condition with a self-inflicted gunshot wound at UAMS in Little Rock, according to police.

His wife, Kelly, 44, was found shot to death in the home she shared with her husband on SW Ouachita Drive on Aug. 19 after a four-hour standoff with officers.

Investigators believe Davis shot Kelly, and then turned the gun on himself.

Kelly was on the phone with her mother moments before she was killed, according to her aunt Janice Grove.

“There was a loud noise, the phone went dead and that's when my sister called 911," Grove said.

Kelly leaves behind two sons, who said in a statement they want people to remember their mother as someone who touched many lives.

Her youngest son, 19-year-old Jamie wrote a statement to 5NEWS:  “I still don’t know what to think.  Life will never be the without you, Mom.  I love you so much and miss you so much already. I know that you're in better hands and walking with Grandpa and that someday I will get to see you someday but until then I hope you know that I love you.”

In a statement from her son Dakota, 24, he wrote he's been trying not to read reports about the shooting because he was there.

"I already know everything they do," he wrote. "But I've heard some rather disturbing stuff about what they have been reporting. I just ask that everyone that actually knew her and saw and talked to her on a daily basis not let people that didn't really know her diminish her name or maker her out to be something that she really wasn't."

The family remembers her as a ‘good Samaritan’ who was always there to help those in need, including helping build a home for Habitat for Humanity and taking part in a Snackpack program for kids at the Samaritan House in Rogers, according to Grove.

Kelly worked at Sam’s Club and the Benton County Juvenile Detention Center.

“I never really understood just what all she had done,” Grove said. “It's amazing that the things that girl has done and the people who are saying what she's done in their lives and how she made them feel and gave them self-worth."

Kelly’s funeral service will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. The family asks that any memorial donations be made to the Samaritan House in Kelly’s name.
