Students and staff at Chaffin Junior High School in Fort Smith collected change in a "Kiss the Pig" contest that was held Friday (May 23). Kids filled up buckets this week. Teachers that had the most money had to pucker up for a pig. Teachers and administrators participated. Assistant Principal Sarah Briggs's bucket won the contest.
This was all for a classmate in need. Devon Feimster, 12, was diagnosed with leukemia in August 2012. Devon's father, Rodney Feimster, said he has two and half more years of chemotherapy to go.
"A big thank you, thank you for helping a fellow classmate in his time for need and hopefully he will be able to return that in a certain way," Rodney Feimster said.
Students and staff raised $1,075.79. This money will help Devon's family with medical costs.
