Due to extensive emergency response efforts and damages to infrastructure, LeFlore County has activated an emergency operations plan and declared a state of emergency, Michael Davidson, the county’s director of Emergency Management said Friday (May 31.)

“This request, if granted, will begin the process to formally request state and federal assistance for disaster response and recovery effort(s),” Davidson said in a news release.

Flash flooding has caused damages to several county roads bridges and culverts in the Haw Creek, Hontubby, Lovings, Page and Reichert-Summerfield areas, Davidson said. Emergency repairs are either underway are will be initiated as soon as flood waters recede.

Several homes in the Hontubby and Haw Creek areas have been inundated with water, however Davidson said all persons are safe and accounted for and no injuries have been reported.

The LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office put together a list of affected areas on their Facebook page:
