ATLANTIC CITY (KFSM)- Miss Arkansas, Savvy Shields won the title of Miss America 2017 on Sunday night (Sept. 11) at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ.
Shields was crowned by Miss America 2016, Betty Cantrell. Shields was awarded a $50,000 college scholarship.
Shields won the talent competition on the second night of preliminaries with a jazz dance to a song from “Smash.”
The 21-year-old is an art major, minoring in business at the U of A, according to a release. Shields is the daughter of Todd and Karen Shields of Fayetteville.
The 1st runner up was Miss South Carolina, Rachel Wyatt.
The 2nd runner up was Miss New York, Camille Sims.
