FORT SMITH (KFSM) – A Moffett teacher and coach appeared on a national fitness elimination show Sunday (March 8).
Logan Beakley is the girls’ athletic coach at the school in Moffett, Okla., and he was one of eight in the country who made it to the final men's episode of Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge, a fitness elimination show that airs on CMT.
"I've never met really hardly anyone famous being from around here. You show up and it's a little bit nerve-racking,” Beakley said.
"Steve Austin pulls up and he's in his Bronco. He pulls up and hops out and introduces himself and he tells you what your first event is,” Beakley said.
His event on Sunday was called “Drag Race.”
"They tied a rope to us -- to each of us -- and we ran in opposite directions. Whoever rang the other guy's bell first, won,” he told us. “And it was real physical -- you're not going to get away from the guy if you're tied to him."
Beakley ended up losing the fight and coming home, but said the show has provided an opportunity to highlight the importance of a good attitude to his students.
"I wasn't the biggest one and the fastest, but you know what -- I got put on that show because I work hard, and that's kind of the attitude…I hope my kids kind of see from it,” he said.
The winner of the competition receives $10,000.
